Pros:

• Owned by Starkey Hearing Instruments, a company that will not be going away.
• Starkey ProHear was one of the originals to come out with an OMS
• Integrated with Starkey's Programming Software - a time saver.
• Good Tech support by qualified staff at a solid company.
• We hear that ProHear.net will be better. (2006 release.)

Cons:

• Most expensive system.. $14,500
• Built on FoxPro, an antiquated database. (We were surprised that their upgrade was still based on an older technology)
• Inflexible
• Complicated -Requires way more than the three days of training offered by Starkey. Get ready to be close to your tech-support agent.
• Incomplete training materials.
• Like Siemens, do you really want to be tied to one manufacturer for your OMS?
• Like Siemens, people tell us that ProHear's design and function has obviously been written from a manufacturer's perspective, as opposed to an audiologist's day-to-day viewpoint. It appears that the programmers at Starkey have not spent much time out in the real audiology world. (Sorry if that sounds a bit harsh, but this kind issue is common with programmers who do not live the day-to-day life of their users.)
